Bolognez is an old Type bichon, originally called italian Bichon and is considered by some a variety of the Bichon Frise.
Like this, the Bolognese was brought to Italy by Spanish navigators in the fifteenth century and developed more intensively in the Bologna region, from where it took its name.
Due to his beauty and grace he was highly appreciated at the Royal Courts of Italy, Spain and Russia. Catherine of Medicis, Queen of France, Catherine i, wife of Peter The Great, and Maria Theresa, Empress of Austria had these dogs as companions.
Many Renaissance paintings from France, Italy and Spain depict dogs very similar to the Bolognese Bichon.

Appearance Bichon Bolognese

Features Bichon Bolognese
The fur of the Bolognese Bichon requires a thorough care, a daily brushing and combing especially on the head, abdomen and in the area between the legs so as not to violate.
The fur should be washed regularly to keep it white and clean. You have to look it in the ear, make sure it's clean and there's no hair falling inside. When necessary, cut off the excess hair between the pads of the legs.
The advantage of this coat is that during the moulting period it does not leave much hair compared to other breeds of puppies, dead hair being removed by brushing.
