Origin

The BRAC de bourbonnais dog is very little spread outside its home region. On its origin there are several opinions.

According to some, it would be the direct descendant of the old French blood-infused Brac of the English Pointer. According to others, it would be a pure breed without any admixture of British blood.

The breed was close to extinction at the end of World War II. It was the breeder Michel Comte who revitalized this breed.

It is also known as the French Bourbonnais Pontator dog.

BRAC De Bourbonnais food

Being a hunting dog and an active dog needs a meal to match. This does not mean to take large bags of food from the supermarket to be, but it means that it needs a nutritionally balanced meal (vitamins, minerals or fats). Some breeders and / or hunters prefer to feed them raw meat.

It is good to know that hunting dog breeds are good to be fed with a greater amount of protein, that is, more meat. The more varied it is (rabbit, turkey, pig, etc.) the better.

Between store-bought food and home-cooked food I am for food cooked on the condition that it is made specifically for the dog. Many breeders know this and prepare daily, once a week or less often food in the house that they store in the freezer.

If you don't have a balanced recipe for your dog, I recommend buying dry and wet food from the store.

Beware of sweets. Chocolate is toxic, and ice cream and similar foods are not recommended in any form. If you want to offer something good to your dog go to a pet store, a petshop, and for 2-3 lei you can take various snacks.

Besides food, fresh water should be at your discretion.
