Origin

Around 1835 in Britain, dog breeders set out to create the "ultimate fighting dog" , the best fighting dog. To achieve this, the English bulldog was crossed with the English terrier, which today no longer exists. Following this crossbreeding program, a small dog appeared, compact and robust, weighing around 13-15 kg.

Finally, the Spanish pointer was added to the breed's breeding program to promote its growth in height. Initially, the color variety of the most common breed was the striped one.

In 1860, a breeder thought that creating an immaculate white Bull Terrier would be an interesting thing. He was right and once created, the White Bull Terrier quickly gained popularity.

Because of its white coat and courage, the White Bull Terrier is known today as the White Cavalier. There is also an unpleasant aspect to this variety of dogs: a large proportion of White Bull Terriers can be born deaf.

In 1936, it was decided that the White and colored Bull Terriers should be considered distinct varieties of the same breed. Colored Bull Terrier can be of any color or color combinations, except white. If White is present, it should not be dominant.

Feeding Bull terrier

Food should be chosen primarily according to the dog's age, but also according to the level of activity. As a general rule, an adult dog eats the equivalent of 3% of its weight each day. As a food you can offer beef, fish, lamb, vegetables (carrots, parsnips, zucchini, spinach, etc.), eggs, and other foods. Pay attention to cabbage and other foods that cause allergies. No one forbids them, they are even recommended, but not in large quantities or very often.

A few words about "grains". If you are not sure that they are quality and do not provide the nutritional elements it is best to offer your friend cooked food. Personally I'm for cooked food. A grain-based food is much more convenient and maybe cheaper, but it's not always better.

Appearance Bull terrier

The Bull Terrier is an impressive dog. It is strong and muscular, but the most spectacular feature of this breed is the shape of its head. From the profile, the head has the shape of an egg.

The eyes are small, oblique and brown, and the ears are small and arranged close to each other. The neck, shoulder blades and the rest of the body are muscular, with a deep chest.

The tail of the dog is short and generally carried horizontally, in continuation of the spine. The bull Terrier's coat is short and smooth, can have different colors: white, reddish, tan or striped on a gray background. The only colors that are not liked in this dog are blue and dark red.

The standard Bull Terrier has a height at the Withers of 51-61 cm and a body weight of 20-36 kg, while the dwarf Bull Terrier has a height of 25-33 cmm and a weight of 11-15 kg.

Bull terrier behavior

Because of their strength and difficult training, Bull Terriers are not recommended for people who have never had dogs before. However, these quadrupeds are very intelligent and can adapt to any living conditions. Bull Terriers are very active and this feature must be maintained by the owner through daily runs.

They are very affectionate, adoring the company of people. Bull Terrier dogs get along very well with children, but the strength of these animals, especially in the early years of adulthood, can make them quite dangerous when playing with the little ones.
