Origin
Besides humans, macaques are the most widespread primates, being found in Japan, Afghanistan, North Africa, etc.
Currently, 22 species of macaques are recognized, and some of them do not have a tail.
Macaque Food
Macaques are diurnal animals that spend most of their time in forests.
They inhabit a variety of forest types and feed on seeds, roots, buds, leaves, invertebrates, berries, eggs, fungi, tree bark, cereals and rarely fish.
Macaque Appearance
Body length varies between 70-100cm with or without tail depending on the species. Males weigh more than females by 20 to 50% of their weight.
Macaques are also found in mountainous areas, surviving at temperatures of -15 degrees. Macaques live in groups of 20-100 individuals in which a large number of females and a few males meet.
The hierarchy between females is strictly observed, the macaque Cubs inheriting the rank of their mother.
Macaque Behavior
Macaques are very intelligent apes. This is the only animal besides humans and raccoons that washes food before eating it. Researchers say that long ago there was a monkey, named Imo, who was seen on a beach washing a fruit in the sea.

They take baths in thermal waters and snowballs to have fun. Studies have shown that they can make sounds with different accents like humans.

Macaques have a longevity of about 30 years.
