Facts
Parus major is a species of songbird in the family Fringillidae. Some species of the family Estrildidae, Emberizidae, Thraupidae, Cardinalidae, Passeridae and Ploceidae are also considered to be dwarf.
The distribution area of the pygots are deciduous and coniferous forests, clearings, parks, gardens, cultivated areas, savannas, tundra regions located at all latitudes of the globe, birds lacking only in the Arctic region.
They are present on all continents, and even on numerous islands in the world's seas and oceans. Most species, about 70 are found in Asia, in Europe live about 20 species, and in Africa 50 species.
There are 60 species in the Americas. On the Hawaiian Islands, the subfamily Drepanidinae, which originally numbered 30 species, has since diversified greatly.
There are dwarf species like Leucosticte that inhabit rocky or prairie regions, while Carduelis atrata, lives in the Andes at an altitude of 4500 meters, or Leucosticte brandti in the Himalayas at an altitude of 5400 m above sea level.
Pitigoi Food
The main food of Pitigoi consists mainly of seeds, fruits and buds of plants. Botgrosul can also break cherry kernels with its powerful beak.
The Loxia that has its beak at the top?at can remove seeds from coniferous cones. During the brooding period the birds will feed the chicks with insects, spiders, or frames.
Most species are sedentary birds, in winter northern species such as those from Scandinavia or North Asia migrate south.
In the winter of 1946/1947 and 1951/1952 there was a migration of birds to Switzerland, concentrating here 100 million birds. It is assumed that the migration phenomenon is due to the abundant seed food in the beech forests.
The flight of birds is in jumps (vaults), a dwarf lives about 1-2 years, in rare cases it has been reported at the age of 15 years.
Features Pygmy
Stingrays are medium to small birds with a length between 9 and 26 cm. Most have a strong beak on the round section, the best developed beak being at the muzzle.
At Loxia the beak appears at the crossed tip. The color of the plumage is different, dominating the striped gray color on the wings.
Males are more intensely colored than females, this coloration being more intense in euphoniinae birds, which live in the tropics.
Breeding Pygmy
Especially the females build a round nest from the branches of trees and bushes. The female lays in the nest 3-5 eggs, which will be hatched for about two weeks.
Will the puppies be fed by both parents?I. The Birds (Carduelinae) feed the chicks with seeds and fruits from the goiter, while the birds (Fringillinae) bring insects or worms to the chicks, the chicks being fed directly from the beak.
The chicks leave the nest at about 11-28 days, the female broods generally two per year, in tropical regions brooding occurs several times a year.
However, they are endangered species.
