Origin
The Pixie-Bob cat is native to the United States.
The two stories circulating on the internet about the origin of these cats are:
A wild cat mated with a domestic one and thus the first specimen of the breed was born.
It is about a genetic mutation in one of the cats that after mating gave birth to a cat that called her Pixie. Thus a new breed of cats was born.
The fact is that in 1985 Carol Ann from Washington acquired a cat that had some unique features that you can see below at the peculiarities.
Although it looks like a wild cat (more precisely like the American Bobcat) is domestic and can be bought for$600.
The name of the breed comes from the first copy of the breed named Pixie.

Pixie-Bob Look
It can have short or long fur. Regardless of the length the coat is double and has the specific color of the wild cat. Stains are mandatory.
Eyes can be golden, brown or green. The fur is thick and soft. The female is smaller than the cat.
Like any feline, he kept his gaze as a predatory animal. Although it is now a domestic cat instincts are well developed.
Many of these rare cats use their paws more as hands than feet for movement. Almost 50% of Pixie-Bob cats are polydactyl (they have several fingers).
A normal cat has 5 fingers on the front paws and 4 fingers on the back paws. Pixie can have 7 Fingers on one paw, that is, 28 on all 4 Paws.
This polydactyl peculiarity dates back to the first Pixie cat, it seems that the gene has not been lost.
Today the similarities with wild cats (such as Lynx) are as follows: tail up to 10cm and coat coloring.
Pixie-Bob Behavior
It is a great water lover. Except for exceptions, of course. This pleasure for water is supposed to have remained since it was wild .. they have the personality of a dog.
Being a very active cat who likes to play a lot tolerates very well the company of children with whom he plays whenever he has the opportunity. It gets along well with other cats, dogs or other animals.
The high degree of socialization makes many agree that Pixie-Bob is a dog in cat skin. He likes to walk on a leash and greets his owner when he comes home like a dog.
Create strong bonds with the Masters. They are active cats who like freedom, but also prefer time spent with their owners. They love being caressed or spending time with their family.
If you are going to grow your family by buying a Pixie-Bob cat you need to arm yourself with toys because it is an active cat.
Features Pixie-Bob
There are many features when it comes to the Pixie-Bob cat. To remember them easier I made a list:
It is a polydactyl cat (has several fingers)
It has a pouch on its stomach that only some wild felines have. It is used when it kills a large animal and has to eat it.
The tail is 3 to 13 cm long.
Nails should be cut twice a week
Pixie-Bob Diseases
It is generally a healthy cat that only needs routine care. This includes nail cutting, periodic brushing and daily attention.
It is said that polydactyl cats grow their nails faster, so keep an eye on them. Brushing helps a lot to remove dead hair.
It is recommended to clean your ears and brush your teeth periodically to prevent dental diseases.
