History-Pomeranian Breed

This breed is a small breed and is included in the group of spitz dogs. The breed was created in the area of Pomerania in eastern Germany, where the name of the Spitz type dogs comes from. The Pomeranian breed originated in England in the nineteenth century by shrinking the size of the mittel Spitz breed through preferential mating.

Queen Victoria's attention to the Pomeranian Breed led to a development in its popularity. The love and care that Queen Victoria gave to dogs of this breed, attracted the attention of dog breeders in England. They began to develop the breed and grow numerous small specimens.
