This tarantula can be found in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The species is tericola, in the wild it lives in underground galleries.

Legs, pedipalps, beige/gray chelicerae. Carapace pale grey with fine golden striations. The dorsal part of the abdomen pale gray with black spots, the sternum is black, the fovea is transverse. The seminal receptacles show a single rounded terminal lobe. The body length is about 3 centimeters in males and 4 centimeters in adult females. It is a terrestrial species that reaches maturity in 2-3 years. It is a species with an aggressive temperament and a high venom potency.
Terrarium
Horizontal space is more important than vertical space. Being a digging species it needs a thick and soft substrate in which it can tunnel. Sometimes it is necessary to have a hole for her to continue with the tunnel, because often she does not start the work herself. Tarantula belongs to the category generally called by enthusiasts "pethole", meaning your pet will be represented 95% of the time by a hole with some canvas beside it. The only sign that the tarantula is well, being given by the fact that the cockroaches put in the evening in the terrarium, disappeared in the morning. After moulting, the exoskeleton will usually be removed by her from the burrow wrapped or not in canvas. From my own experience, I can say that the tarantula does not need much space, most of the time it is hidden, and when it comes out, it generally does it to catch the cockroaches offered as food. Comfort temperature is between 22 - 27 degrees Celsius.
Venom
All species of tarantulas possess venom. Although it is not very potent, bites are never placute.De like any species of tarantula and pterinochilus chordatus can be unpredictable and a bite can occur at any time. For these reasons we recommend maximum attention when the tarantula is fed, moved or when its terrarium is cleaned.
It is not recommended to handle tarantulas, especially by those without experience.
Reproduction Pterinochilus lugardi
The rules regarding the mating ritual are largely the same that apply to all tarantula species, however we recommend increased care if the female is in the galleries when the male is introduced into its terrarium. The egg bag can contain from 30 to 180-200 eggs. The period between mating and spawning can be 20-50 days, and from spawning to hatching 40-50 days.
