Facts

Origin

Some say that Ragamuffin resulted from crossing the Ragdoll breed with Persian, Turkish Angora, Burmese and other domestic cats.

The Breed appeared in 1960 in California. The first association to accept the breed was the United Feline Organization (UFO). It was accepted by the CFA (Cat Feline Association) in February 2003.

As far as I understand there are other associations that do not accept this breed as separate because of its resemblance to the ragdoll breed.

Appearance ragamuffin cat

The Ragamuffin cat is a large cat. He has an athletic, muscular and strong body. The fur is soft and fluffy. Females can weigh between 4 and 7 kg, while males, which are larger, can weigh between 7 and 10 kg.

The body is strong, and the tail is long and fluffy. The eyes are large and round. The hind legs are longer than the front. The ears are straight and slightly rounded at the tip.

Feline instinct is well developed, it is a sharp and always attentive cat.

Even if it doesn't have short fur, it doesn't tend to get tangled. A weekly brush to remove dead hair is enough.

It's like a smaller dog.

Pay attention to the silhouette. If they eat and do not exercise they tend to round themselves, that is, become obese.

Behavior ragamuffin cat

It is often likened to a puppy that can be trained and that can play tricks.

She is intelligent and likes to be always in the spotlight. He follows his master through the house and into the room with his gaze and waits for caresses all the time.

It bites and scratches rarely. It is limited to certain toys because it is not very active. He'd rather get his toilet done and find someone to scratch it.

It differs from Ragdoll by medium-long fur and a wide variety of colors.

If it is not the most active cat it is probably the most sociable and loving and gets along well with children and other animals. She's very patient. If you caress her properly, she likes to be held in her arms and cuddled by all the family members, one at a time.
