Origin

It is not known exactly when these cats appeared in Russia, but it is said that they were first brought by nobles because they were considered exotic cats. These were mated with domestic cats existing in the area but also with wild cats(Felis Silvestris).

Only a few of the Cats brought adapted to the harsh Siberian winters and led to the propagation of the breed. Surviving cats have adapted their fur to environmental conditions. It has become impermeable to prevent moisture and cold from reaching the skin.

Despite the fact that Siberians are a local breed, it was rarely mentioned in Russian books. Although their past is not fully known, it is believed that the Siberian is an ancient breed, existing for over 1000 years.

The Siberian breed was registered in 1987 at the Kotofei club in St. Petersburg. Petersburg. It was not until 2000 that it was accepted as a breed by the CFA ( Cat Fanciers Association).

The cat was first mentioned in a book written by author Harrison Wier, in which there was information that the Siberian breed was present at an exhibition in England in 1871.

In 1990 the cat was first brought to the USA. Despite its popularity, the breed is quite rare in that area.

Appearance Siberian Cat

Siberians have a personality similar to that of dogs and are very affectionate. These cats love their owner to talk to them and will listen with interest to what they are told.

They come quickly if they are shouted, meowing very briefly, as if they were chirping. A Siberian will never run to hide when she sees a stranger.

Unlike many breeds, the Siberian becomes very curious in the presence of strangers, whom she will greet at the door to investigate them closely.

They are smart cats and can quickly learn how to get what they want. Another strange behavior in these cats is that they like to put their favorite toys in the water bowl.

They are also active cats and they enjoy having people play with them.

They are intelligent like most felines and extremely curious. Besides the fact that these cats have huge energy reserves these cats can also be gentle and this makes them ideal for children. It was found that he gets along well with other animals, including dogs.

Siberian cat is hypoallergenic. It has been found that people who were allergic to cats have 1-2 Siberian cats without any problem. Most allergies are caused by FElD1, a component of cat saliva that is 30% higher than other felines.

Studies have shown that Siberian cat hair contains a higher amount of FelD1.

If you are going to take a Siberian cat for 100% safety you can go to someone who has one or if you are going to take a kitten it is good to be able to visit the parents to see if it is allergic or not.
