Facts
The Romanian Sport Horse specimens have a special talent for jumping over obstacles, this horse starting to be present more and more in the arenas of national and international equestrian competitions.
This population of horses began to take shape in 1962, when the criteria were established to be met by these horses, in order to be suitable for various equestrian sports competitions.
For the training of the Romanian Sport Horse, it was considered the possibility of incorporating in this type the different qualities of the breeds and populations that contributed to their genesis, thus a crossing of the parental populations was achieved so as to select the desired characters.
The selection was rigorous, with the most appropriate matching of pairs.
Initially, the herd chosen as a queen for the training of the Romanian Sport Horse was found at Sambata de Jos, then, since 1970, it is found in Jegalia Stud Farm, from Calarasi County, this being created specifically for the training of this breed.
It has already been about four generations since the creation of this Romanian Sport Horse was started, however, the herd is still quite heterogeneous, uninsulated reproductively.
This is also due to the fact that the Queen herd has a very different origin, so the mares, mother are of anglo-Arab origin, but also Furioso North-Star and Nonius, and the nursery Stallions were in a large percentage English Thoroughbreds, in order to increase the waist and speed of the products.
A significant period was used quite intensively to mount a stallion of Bulgarian origin, also periodically were used to mount trapasi Stallions.
Currently, this breed is bred reproductively isolated, its genealogical register being closed with the last English thoroughbred stallion used for breeding, namely Finish.
After him, blood infusion from other breeds was not allowed, the population growing and developing only with stallions and mares Romanian Sport Horse that form the current queen from Jegalia.
Appearance Romanian Sports Horse
The Romanian sports horse, however, began to gain some morphological homogeneity, thus, the waist varies between 162-172cm, with a more square lateral body format, the trunk is short, muscular, with long, clean legs, with well-detached tendons and wide, strong joints.
The head is small, the face of the trunk, very fine and expressive, bringing a lot with that of pure Arab blood, the ears are small, very mobile, properly worn, the eyes lively, expressive, the neck is also short, thick, well caught, with a very well developed encolor.
The chest is wide, continued with a sufficiently deep thorax, the back is short, continued with its strong, well-grasped, the croup is very muscular, strong, often straight, but can also be slightly oblique antero-posteriorly.
The Romanian Sports Horse body mass can vary between 500-600 kg, depending on the waist. As it is now outlined, it has a robust, strong appearance, having the physical qualities necessary to be a good jumper over obstacles, but it also lends itself well to dressage or the full trial.
Romanian sports horse behavior
Despite the large share of the English thoroughbred breed in the formation of this population, the temperament of the Romanian Sports Horse is not so choleric as its.
They have a docile character, a lively temperament, but much more balanced, they lend themselves well to work for dressage and obstacles, having a well-defined intelligence and elegance.
The Romanian Sports Horse specimens have a special talent for jumping over obstacles, this horse starting to be present more and more in the arenas of national and international equestrian competitions.
We are still working on this breed, aiming to increase the waist of the products, but also to obtain more balanced and calm specimens, but at the same time physically resistant, with physical qualities as suitable for obstacles.
