Food Theraphosa apophysis

Chickens can eat crickets, cockroaches and generally small insects. Adults can eat larger insects or even rodents. Some breeders recommend that the latter are recommended to be offered rarely because of the large amount of minerals (a mouse at 4-6 months), it is considered that after feeding with mammals tarantulas would assimilate too much calcium, which would lead to a calcification of soft tissues, and problems of chitinization of the exoskeleton. However, this fact is not scientifically proven, and ultimately the choice of food remains with the owner.Features Theraphosa apophysis
Theraphosa apophysis and Theraphosa blondi are the largest tarantulas in the world. Theraphosa blondi was thought to be the largest tarantula in the world because Theraphosa apophysis was only discovered 187 years later.
Recently, this tarantula has moved from the genus Pseudotheraphosa to the genus Theraphosa.
It is a digging tarantula, being found in the natural environment in galleries up to 60 cm deep. It is a semi-aggressive tarantula, which prefers to throw hives rather than bite. Hives are very irritating and therefore it is not recommended to handle this species. Species not recommended for beginners. Adults reach up to 28-30cm, exceptionally specimens up to 33 cm (this size practically belongs to the largest tarantula measured scientifically). When they reach sexual maturity, the males of this species change their color to a very strident violet, which does not happen in Theraphosa blondi.

Terrarium

Adults need a Large Terrarium, a minimum of 1m long and 60cm high, and at least 20cm of substrate in which the tarantula can dig. Also in the terrarium there must be a place to hide and a pot of water to maintain humidity. The temperature should be maintained at 26-29grc, and the humidity around 75-80%. Given the very large dimensions of the terrarium, decor elements should not be missing from it, although they are not needed by the animal, but its beauty must be complemented by a terrarium to match.

Venom

All species of tarantulas possess venom. Although it is not very potent, bites are never placute.De like any species of tarantula and pterinochilus chordatus can be unpredictable and a bite can occur at any time. For these reasons we recommend maximum attention when the tarantula is fed, moved or when its terrarium is cleaned.
It is not recommended to handle tarantulas, especially by those without experience.

Reproduction Theraphosa apophysis

After mating, the female lays a bag of eggs from which about 100 chicks emerge. The bag is kept in the incubator at a temperature of 28grc and humidity of 90%.
