Origin
This breed was created at the court of Duke K. A. of Weimar around 1810 by mating the German short-haired Brac with Bloodhound and French Greyhounds.
At first it was bred and used in Germany only by the nobility but later it spread throughout Germany and after 1930 also in the USA.
Initially, these dogs were used to hunt large animals (bears, wild boars, deer), in large-scale parties attended by representatives of the German nobility.
As the hunting fund became depleted, the Weimaraner dog was "re-profiled" for hunting small animals (rabbits, badgers, foxes) and, especially, wild birds. It is an excellent assistant when hunting birds, on any terrain (pond, field, hatis), used as a pointer and a pointer.
Weimaraner Food
Dogs of this breed are not great gourmets, nor do they pose problems regarding the chosen menu, so you can feed them with what you eat at the table.
Although he does not eat much, on cold winter days it is not a bad idea to supplement the portion of food he receives, because it helps him better get through a time of year that he does not particularly love.

Weimaraner Appearance
It is a large, muscular, strong, robust dog. The head is medium length, with the muzzle equal to the skull and the nose of the skin color (gray or brown).
The eyes are medium in size, Oval, spaced and gray or brown in color. The ears are located high, long and wide and round at the tip.
The tail is cut short and carried high, almost vertically. The coat can be short or longer (there are two varieties) and have a silvery-gray or brownish color.
Short hair is fine, dense and well glued to the body. Long hair (rarely found) is silky and slightly wavy, velvety on the ears and longer on the neck and chest.
A Weinmaraner can reach 69 cm in height and 27 kg, but there are also specimens that can exceed these quotas sensibly, although they fall into the category of exceptions.
At the short-haired variety an occasional brushing with a rubber brush is sufficient. At the long-haired variety brushing and combing should be done regularly.
Weimaraner Behavior
It is a dog with a high level of activity that likes to exercise a lot and have permanent occupation.
It is recommended for people who are active and can make time for the dog.
He has good skills for canine sports, he likes to swim, run in open space, take a hike, take long walks.
It can also be kept in an apartment if there are conditions because it is a large dog and if it makes the daily movement it needs physically and mentally, but it feels better in a fenced yard where it can move freely. He needs socializing and training.
Dressage Weimaraner
To ensure peace in the house, the Weimaraner must be taken daily for long walks, exceeding two hours.
If you do not provide them with these hours, they will be unhappy, and they will turn, inside the house, into very destructive animals.
They love to swim and bring back the things you threw away, so these two activities should not be neglected when making plans for them.
Their training should start early to ensure that you don't have a dog in the house that can gnaw, dig, and run all day, tendencies they are prone to if you don't really take care of them.
