Origin
The Wetterhoun is a native Dutch breed. It was developed by breeders in the province of Friesland at least 400 years ago. Now the breed is rarely found outside the Netherlands.
It can also be found under the names: Frisian Water Dog or Dutch Spaniel.
Wetterhoun Food
Wetterhoun is not a picky dog, but may have some allergies to certain foods that occur on the skin.
For him to be healthy his diet must contain all the nutritional elements he needs.

Wetterhoun Appearance
It is a medium-sized dog, solid, without being cumbersome. It has a strong head, proportional to the body, the skull is slightly bulging, more wide than long, the muzzle strong, the nose straight, black or brown.
The eyes are medium-sized, oval, slightly oblique, light or dark brown in color. The ears of medium length are wide, left near the head with long wavy hair at the base, and short at the tip of the ear. The tail is spirally rolled, curved above the thigh.
The coat consists of curly, oily, dense, thick hair. On the head the hair is short and smooth. It can be full black, tan, black with white, tan with white and tricolor.
Wetterhoun Behavior
It is an intelligent, courageous, curious dog, wants to know and see everything, sensitive, vigilant, friendly with acquaintances, somewhat independent.
He is obedient and devoted to his master, loving and patient with children if they do not taunt him, vigilant and cautious with strangers. Accept other dogs and other animals in the household.
Dogs of this breed need a lot of physical activity. The ideal situation for these dogs is to have at their disposal a large area where they can run free, which they will defend with strength and clean it from pests.
