Breeding Whistling Rate
The Nest makes it on the ground, near the water, instead of secluded. Brooding is done by pair or in small groups. The female lays 8-9 eggs which she incubates for 24-25 days.
The chicks leave the nest to go to the water shortly after they hatch.
Since they are in the water they find their own food, during which time the female takes care of them until about 45 days of age.
