Origin

In the 1980s the census of this species in Europe was 815 and 891 pairs, which shows a considerable decline, this fact converts it into a species of special interest.

The Porcupine Eagle (Aquila fasciata, formerly also known as Hieraaetus fasciatus). In English it is known as Bonelli's Eagle or Bonelli's Eagle.

Following more recent DNA research the decision was made to move the bird from the genus Hieraaetus to the genus Aquila.

Food Of The Golden Eagle

They hunt rabbits, pigeons, quails, lizards and various birds.

Most of its food is live prey that it hunts.

The largest prey are the size of hares and guinea fowls, in the case of birds.

Features Aquila Porumbaca

It is a day bird of Prey about 70cm long. length, weighing between 1600 and 2200 grams.

Of large and strong appearance, the adults have a brown hindwing and lighter, yellowish-white underparts with dark lines.

It is sedentary, but with the spread of young individuals. It is a threatened species and with a serious setback. High voltage cables, poaching and stress caused in the place where they raise their young are the biggest dangers.

Breeding Eagle Porumbaca

It nests in rocky areas and rarely in trees.

It usually breeds in southern Europe, Southern and Northern Africa, southern Sahara Desert and Indian territory to Indonesia.

The female lays 1 to 3 eggs.
