BREED CHARACTERISTICS

These are dogs with a fearless personality, courageous and beautiful appearance. Owning a Shiba Inu means exercising, training and socializing. Shiba dogs love families and will want to be included in all their activities. He is very good with children, in general with those who are already a few years old. They are loving, affectionate dogs, dogs that need a lot of activities to keep themselves healthy.

Shiba Inu needs a few walks a day and plenty of time to run. They are generally aggressive towards other animals. It takes a farm or a house with enough outdoor space for the Shiba Inu to consume energy. They like interactive games, and the ideal activity for a Shiba Inu is the agility course. They need socialization to stop being aggressive with other dogs. This breed has a habit of expressing boredom by excessive barking, howling and chewing on furniture.

DISEASES THAT CAN OCCUR IN THIS BREED

The Shiba inu are a generally santous breed with few diseases known to be peculiar to them. Allergies are manifested quite often in this breed, the most common being those to food, those to various solid elements and respiratory allergies. It is good to know which diseases can occur in this breed:

- hip dysplasia and shoulder dysplasia, occurs most often with the aging of Dogs of this breed. It is best to find out if the dog's parents have suffered or are suffering from this disease.

- progressive retinal atrophy. An eye disease that involves gradual damage to the retina. At the beginning of the disease, dogs lose their night vision, and as the disease worsens, they also lose their daytime vision.
