It is a relatively new breed created by breeder Frant Horak from Klanovice in 1949, by crossing Sealyham and Scouttish Terriers with the aim of obtaining a dog for both Burrows and open field.

It is also known as Czesky Terrier, Cesky jack russell terrier, Bohemian Terrier .
