Origin
The Devon Rex cat originated in England in 1960. The breed was born by mating a wild cat and a domestic cat.
It was originally thought to be the Cornish Rex breed, but following investigations it turned out to be a new breed.
The first cub was discovered by Beryl Cox in Buckfastleigh, Devon.
After only 8 years, in 1968 it was imported to America. In 1972 it was recognized by the ACFA. In 1983 the Devon Rex cat breed won the CFA (Cat Fanciers’ Association) award.

Appearance Devon Rex
She is known for her slender body, wavy fur and large ears. The coat has three types of hair ( guard hair, awn hair, and down hair ) and is as soft and fluffy as the Cornish Rex.
The body is athletic, noticeably smaller than that of ordinary domestic cats. Instead, the muscles and feet are strong, and the fingers are unusually large adapted for running and climbing.
Devon Rex's wavy fur is caused by a genetic mutation, and this is only preserved if both parents possess that gene. As well as stripes in zebras and fur varies from one individual to another.
Mating with similar breeds such as Cornish Rex or German Rex is called "pixie cats" or "alien cats" because of their unique appearance.
Devon Rex Behaviour
It is an active, playful and social cat. It was described by the owners as a dog character with cat and monkey. Or in other words a monkey in cat skin.
They are innate jumpers and will take up as much space as they need (quite a lot I assure you).
If you grow it on the block you will see it in the strangest places, starting with the toilet lid to the clothes closet, in the drawer or in the laundry basket.
Like other cats, they love the highest places so they can watch the situation from a height, basically see everything that moves.
Caring for the cat Deon Rex is relatively easy. They have only one person they are most attached to who they sit next to for caress.
Features Devon Rex
It is a very intelligent cat that is able to learn difficult tricks, it can recognize both its name and that of its owner.
It can be taught to walk on a leash, make an intake and can learn other commands like dogs (sit, jump, wait, etc.)
In addition, the cat is considered hypoallergenic.
As I said above, it is a sociable fish that searches for its owner and spends time with him. The most common places are the head and neck area. He likes to even sit on your shoulder to purr.
Some even say that it is a pet-dependent cat, they follow their master everywhere.
The great advantage of Devon Rex cats is that their short fur makes the naparlira not noticeable.
Diseases Devon Rex
If you want to buy a cat because it is hypoelergenic, it is good to check this because this condition varies from one individual to another.
Although the chances are quite small very sensitive people may be allergic to these cats.
Unfortunately, the mortality of babies at birth is quite high. Probably because of the sensitivity to the air current. He must be provided with a warm place to keep warm.
In the past, the breed has been affected by spasticity ( a disorder of the central nervous system in which certain muscles continuously receive impulses to contract because their nerves cannot control their activity). Over time, the disease was reduced to a minimum.
