Origin
It is widespread in Central Asia, from the Eastern Shore of the Caspian Sea to northwestern India.
It lives mainly in sandy deserts, steppes and oases or in Mountain valleys.
The exterior is largely dependent on the environment in which it lives.
Feeding Steppe turtle
It is an omnivorous species, feeding on plants, flowers, fruits, but also insects. snails and other small animals.
Nowadays, it is increasingly exported to many countries of the world, but it requires appropriate conditions, which can best be ensured only in terrariums arranged for this purpose.
Features Steppe Turtle
Lower waist, shows variations between 20-30 cm. and it can sometimes be confused with the Greek turtle. It differs from it, among other things, because it has 4 claws on all limbs.
The contour is almost circular, with broad and flattened scales, Chestnut, olive color, spotted in some areas, with more or less contoured shapes, black color.
The plastron is relatively flat and ornate with black spots that extend over smaller areas as on the test.
Breeding Steppe turtle
Males typically have less body weight than females of the same age.
The mating season is characterized by violent fights between males, which take place based on true fighting strategies (clashes, front or side kicks, thrusts and even limb bites).
