Origin of the American Bulldog

The American bulldog has its origins in the English bulldog. In the past it was used as a pet on the farm.

After World War 2 the breed was revitalized by John D. Johnson of Summerville.

The American bulldog also has several subspecies, the best known being Scott and Johnson.

American bulldog Johnson differs in size, body and head are slightly larger and slightly more aggressive tendencies.
