Origin-Golden Retriever Breed

The impressive story of the Golden Retriever begins in the middle of the nineteenth century, at a time when the Scottish aristocracy was developing and hunting was an essential place in the social plan. Firearms were in great demand for hunters who practiced this pastime.

Hunting dogs of that time were specialized in hunting on the ground and encountered difficulties when they had to search for fallen birds at longer distances. An enthusiast of bird hunting was Dudley Majoribanks, later to become Lord Tweedmouth and wanted to create a dog:

Strong;

Ager;

With a fine nose;

Excellent swimmer;

Easy to train.

Lord Tweedmouth purchased a golden male from a shoemaker in Brighton and brought it to Moose sa where it was mated with a female Tweed Water spaniel. In this way, this race was shaped. Subsequently, crossbreeding with several breeds was carried out:

Terra Nova;

Irish Setter;

Bloodhound

Since that time, the Golden breed began to be presented at various canine exhibitions, and in 1911 the breed was recognized as “Retriever-Yellow or Golden” by The Kennel Club. The definitive name "Golden Retriever" was given in 1920.

The Golden breed began to grow in popularity both in Europe and in Australia and America becoming today one of the most beloved and appreciated canine breeds in the world. It is recommended for families with children, being an intelligent, gentle and protective dog.

Golden Retriever Feed

Dogs of this size have a sufficiently large appetite and an essential supply of nutrients is needed compared to small breeds of dogs. Food should include vitamins and minerals.

Physical construction.

The quality of food can also make a difference. The more nutrient-rich the food, the stronger and healthier the dog will be.

A quantity of 2-3 servings of quality dry food is recommended, divided into two meals.
