Origin

Tibetan Terrier is a very ancient breed whose origins are at least two thousand years. It was bred mostly to herd herds of sheep, guard monasteries, and as a pet or rodent Hunter.

It was highly prized by Buddhist monks, regarded as a holy symbol, it was never sold but only given as a gift. It is related to Lhasa Apso.

It arrived in England around the 1930s thanks to a doctor, Grieg, who healing a Tibetan princess received some specimens of this breed. The first copy arrived in the United States in 1956.
