Origin

The English Cocker has been present in art and literature for over 500 years. Initially they were divided into cocker spaniel by water and by land. In the 1850s and 1860s other types of cockerels were recorded: Welsh and Devonshire. Today's breed looks a little different.

At Crufts the English Cocker was the most successful puppy, winning 7 awards in years 1930, 1931, 1938, 1939, 1948, 1950, 1996. The American Spanish Cocker was created from the English Spanish Cocker in the early 19th century to hunt quail and forest sitar.
