Origin
The Kuvasz's natural protective instincts make it one of the best breeds for guarding sheep flocks today. The Kuvasz is a splendid white dog native to Tibet, which is an excellent protector and guard dog.
Often confused with the Pyrenean Shepherd, the Kuvasz does not have two Spurs on its hind paws.
The Kuvasz (Kuvoszok – plural) is an amazing, remarkable dog native to Tibet and thought to be related to the Komondor. Originally used to guard sheep and cattle, the dog was also used to hunt wild boars. Centuries ago, the breed gradually spread throughout Europe, being used extensively in Hungary as a guard and hunting dog.
The impressive and intelligent Kuvasz was often a companion of the nobility and royal families. It was not yet the year 1500 and this dog had become popular among the lower social classes. Everything happened in Hungary, so the breed perfected itself in the dog we know today.
The name "kuvasz "is a distortion, a variation of the Turkish word" kawasz", meaning protector. The breed uses its natural protective instincts nowadays, being one of the best guard breeds for sheep herds.
Kuvasz is fast, strong and agile – important qualities in defending sheep from coyotes, wolves and other potentially dangerous animals.
Kuvasz Food
It is a carnivorous dog. Meat feeding is recommended for proteins that are healthier than those found in corn and cereals. Many breeders and veterinarians recommend meat as the main source of protein.
Of course a dog can survive on cereal-based diets, but they're not always the best choice. If you're feeding your dog food from stores, it's best to read the label to see what ingredients it contains and how nutritionally quality that product is. It should contain Turkey and / or lamb.
Pay attention to the amount of food you provide to your companion. Too much generosity leads to obesity. That means less movement and over time more disease. Despite its size Kuvasz has an efficient metabolism and is not a very large Eater.
Pay attention to chocolate and similar sweets. If for Man it is a pleasure that is digested without any problems, for the dog it is a pleasure that brings him problems.
Many call chocolate, cocoa, ice cream poisons when it comes to dogs. If you care about your animal's health, don't feed it.
